It is written, Train up A CHILD in the way he should go: and when HE IS OLD, he will not DEPART FROM IT. (Proverbs 22:6)
This is to say, you as a genuine Child of God in Christ in this World must know and understand that TRAINING UP YOUR CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO as commanded in the Bible has nothing to do with his or her academic pursuit in this World as the people of the World also do. This is because academic pursuit or pathway can be departed or changed from anytime and anywhere . No, it is not that kind of training the Bible is talking about. It is TRAINING UP YOUR CHILD in a godly way of the Lord as godly parents, so that when he or she grows up, he or she will not depart from the godly way of the Lord to the way and manner of the World. True! So many Christian parents have misunderstood what the Bible verse means for TRAINING UP YOUR CHILD to meet up to the academic standards of the World with lots of certificates to back it up. No, that is not what the Bible means by saying TRAINING UP YOUR CHILD in the way the or she should go, so that if he or she grows up, he or she will not depart from it. No! No!! No!!! Now, there is nothing bad about TRAINING UP YOUR CHILD to be academically relevant to the World in one field or the other, but for your CHILD to know Him (the GOD of Heaven) personally and passionately to think, speak and live in a godly way to please Him (God) above all in this World is what the Lord first and foremost is requesting from you as a godly parent in Christ in this World. True! The Bible reveals this truth to us when it says that this have you done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regards not the offering any more, or receives it with good will at your hand. Yet ye say, wherefore? Because the LORD had been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously: yet is she your companion, and the wife of your covenant. And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? THAT HE MIGHT SEEK A GODLY SEED. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. God seeks GODLY SEEDS from every Christian marriage in Christ in this World including yours. True! Are you TRAINING UP one? Apostle Paul recognized one in Timothy and celebrated his mother and grandmother who did well to train him in the way of the Lord, when he said that when I call to remembrance the unfeigned FAITH THAT IS IN YOU, WHICH DWELLED FIRST IN YOUR GRANDMOTHER LOIS, AND YOUR MOTHER EUNICE; AND I AM PERSUADED THAT IS IN YOU ALSO. Wherefore I put you in remembrance that you stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God had not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Can the people of God and the people of the World recognize that you are training up a GODLY SEED for the Lord or you have trained up one in your grown up Child by your own lifestyle? It surprises me to hear Christian parents say that their Children are too young to learn about God or study Scripture and the same Christian parents will joyfully buy all sorts of cartoons and fairy tales CDs and books for their Children to watch and read to know all the various types of ungodly actors and actresses in the World. Many Christian parents go as far as making birthday cakes of these ungodly characters for their Children and play all sort of ungodly music during their birthday celebration. What a shame and sad and ignorant way to train up your Child as a Christian parents in Christ in this World. Today, the people of the World cannot distinguish Christian parents and Christian Children from their own Children because many Christian children dress like them, sing and speak like them and behave like their own ungodly children. What a shame and disappointment to our God that seek godly seeds from us Christian parents? This was not so for Timothy's mother and grandmother, who taught or train him as a child. This again was recognized by Apostle Paul when he said to Timothy asi an adult, BUT CONTINUE YOU IN THE THINGS WHICH YOU HAD LEARNED AND HAD BEEN ASSURED OF, KNOWING OF WHOM YOU HAD LEARNED THEM; AND THAT FROM A CHILD YOU HAD KNOWN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES, WHICH ARE ABLE TO MAKE YOU WISE UNTO SALVATION THROUGH FAITH WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. You can see, it was easier for Apostle Paul to say to Timothy who is now an adult to CONTINUE in things he had learned as a Child including Scriptures he had learned through his mother and grandmother. What is your Children learning from you as their parents? Remember as Apostle Paul pointed to Timothy, it is only through the KNOWLEDGE of SCRIPTURES that your CHILDREN can be truly WISE in this World, especially against spiritual deceptions, manipulations and wickedness in this World that is capable of rendering them useless and helpless in this World, if they are not spiritually wise and smart in the Lord. True! This was what King David later discovered and said O THAT MY WAYS WERE DIRECTED TO KEEP YOUR STATUTES! THEN SHALL I NOT BE ASHAMED, WHEN I HAVE RESPECT UNTO ALL THY COMMANDMENTS. O how love I your law! it is my meditation all the day. You through your commandments had made me WISER THAN MINE ENEMIES: for they are ever with me. I HAVE MORE UNDERSTANDING THAN ALL MY TEACHERS: for your testimonies are my meditation. I UNDERSTAND MORE THAN THE ANCIENTS,because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep your Word. I have not departed from thy judgments: for you had taught me. How sweet are your Words unto my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. You as a godly parents must make conscious effort to wisely invest in the scriptural and spiritual development of your Children early enough before it is too late to do so. If you do, you will not only have pleased the Lord and made available for him, vessels unto honour to use to further His COURSE (pathway) and CAUSE (purpose) in Christ in this World, but you will enjoy peaceful old age and the Lord have promised to anoint your children with the oil of gladness above their peers because they will love righteousness and hate SIN that their peers love. True! (Malachi 2:13-15; 2 Timothy 1: 5-7; 2 Timothy 6:14-17; Hebrews 1:9; 1 John 5:18-21; Ephesians 5:15-18; Psalm 119:5,6, 97-105; 2 Timothy 2:15-26)
